Looking for a beautiful venue to get married? The Briars in Bowral is set on 15 acres of rural countryside and is a superb venue for a romantic country wedding. Set apart by tranquil gardens, rural surroundings and elegant atmosphere, this is the place where Marianne and Kyle celebrated their wedding reception.
You might have remembered a recent engagement session post of Marianne and Kyle at North Wollongong. Well today was their wedding day.
Here in the Southern Highlands, we were very lucky to experience one of the most gorgeous sunny and warm autumn day’s in a long time. The sun was out all day which was a pleasant delight.
Marianne and Kyle got ready at the Briars in Bowral among their dearest friends and parents. I love this venue for its beauty and versatility, so many beautiful back drops, a photographer’s dream.
Their ceremony was held at one of my favourite churches, St Francis Xavier Church in Berrima. I just love its history and the beautiful sandstone walls.
Their ceremony was unique and special to them, which involved Filipino traditions of the cord, veil and candle ceremony. Just beautiful and touching to see.
Location shots were taken in the township of Berrima, at the courthouse and surroundings before heading back to the Briars for their reception.
Thanks M&K for the many laughs were had with your fun bridal party. Enjoy the viewing. x DW
It was great seeing Jemma and Simon again but this time to take them out to the beautiful Morton National Park for their wedding e’session photo shoot. The weather on Saturday was quite cold to say the least (-1.C) but at least my prayers came true, I asked for clear blue sunny skies and it was delivered! Thank you.
As J&S’s wedding will be held at the Southern Highland Wines in November, Jemma wanted their e’session to take place in Bundanoon (where she grew up) and Morton National Park was the perfect place as she remembers going on many bush walks with her family.
Thanks J&S for putting up with the cold winter conditions. I am looking forward to photographing your wedding – we are going to have so much FUN. Plus the weather will definitely be much warmer! Enjoy the preview.
Kindest regards x Di
I was very fortunate to photograph an event at Wombat Hollow situated in Kangaloon in the Southern Highlands to mark Edith’s 90th birthday celebrations.
She is one remarkable highly regarded lady, loved and respected by all.
Even though I have known her very briefly via photographing previous social events for her family (The Yabsleys), she is genuine caring kind lady.
Many guests told me how remarkable and independent she is, caring and loving to all. How this family (and there are many generations and family members connected to Edith) – are together because of her. Her values, morals are respected by all.
This day was for Edith and from the below photographs you can tell that everyone had an amazingly fun day celebrating this remarkable lady’s achievements in her life. And I had a fantastic time capturing all special moments as they unfolded.
Thank you to Susie and Michael Yabsley and their children Alex and Edward and Pam and Cliff and their sons and of course Edith for welcoming me again to capture another family moment in their lives.

I was very excited about photographing Rebecca and Ilker’s wedding. I met them last year and subsequently did an e’session photo shoot at their proposed wedding venue at Solar Springs Weddings in Bundanoon of the Southern Highlands.
They are such lovely people: friendly, warm, caring.
When I woke up on their wedding day, it was hot. I mean extremely hot. It was already 30 degrees, expecting to reach 38 degrees later in the day.
Upon arrival to the beautiful gardens of Solar Springs Health Retreat www.solarsprings.com.au, I was in awe of how beautiful the ceremony was set up. Michael and Kate from Absolutely Flowers did a magnificent job, ensuring with this intense heat the flowers look fresh and luscious for Rebecca and Ilker’s wedding ceremony.
As I arrived early I saw Ilker busily ensuring that everything was organised and running smoothly. I love organised people!
It was a beautiful wedding. Rebecca, a caring gorgeous bride and Ilker, a gentleman the devoted husband to be. Together one loving couple who are loved by all who were present for their wedding day.
There were many highlights of my day with Rebecca and Ilker. Seeing kangaroos on the lawn, joining in the laughs with the bridal party, trying to keep cool as much as possible, watching belly dancing but most importantly it was those wonderful endearing moments I captured of their loving relationship.
Thank you for letting me be part of your special day.
PS I will upload some reception photos very soon.

North Wollongong Beach on a hot summer’s day was the place to be for Marianne and Kyle’s beach e’session in preparation for their autumn wedding in the Southern Highlands.
It was a very hot day and we were very glad that we were near the water for this e’session photo shoot.
Marianne came prepared with props and helium balloons, even one got away :). She wanted to make their e’session memorable, comfortable reflecting who they are as a couple and what the area means to them as they spend a lot of time walking along the beach here.
Thanks for the many laughs and water fights.
Looking forward to capturing your wedding day in May at the Briars Country Lodge, Southern Highlands. xx DW
